MEET THE STAFF

JOHN OLIVER
Band Director
 Mr. Oliver is currently in his 7th year as the band director for Carlisle Local Schools.  Before Carlisle, Mr. Oliver was the band director for Preble Shawnee Local Schools.  While there, he guided them to their first OMEA Superior Rating in school history.  He is a graduate of the University of Dayton where he was principal chair of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Concert Band. He also participated in the Pride of Dayton Marching Band where he was the baritone section leader.  

Under Mr. Oliver's leadership the band program has grown from 33 members in 2015 to nearly 80. The band has many contest wins, superior ratings, and has been an OMEA State Finalist under Mr. Oliver's leadership.  The WGI Winds program has been a Winds Scholastic A National Finalist.

Mr. Oliver is extremely active in the Carlisle community. He is an active member of the Carlisle Lions Club and he coaches junior high track at Chamberlain Middle School. The band is active in the community and can often be seen doing various service projects in the area.
Mr. Oliver is a 2006 graduate of Carlisle and a 2011 graduate from the University of Dayton ands he holds a masters degree in music education from Ohio University. John is married to 2005 CHS graduate Caroline Oliver. They live in Carlisle with their dog Ollie and 2 year old Jenna! 

KYLE SCHUCKMANN
Assistant Band Director
Kyle Schuckmann is in his eighth year of teaching, his second at Carlisle Local Schools.  A graduate of The University of Dayton with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education, Kyle spent his first three years teaching in Crawfordsville, IN as the Director of Bands where he oversaw middle through high school band, a Mid-States Finalist marching band, a winterguard, and an award winning winter percussion program.  From there, Kyle moved to Northern Ohio, where he was Director of Bands and Choirs at Sandusky Central Catholic School.

​While there, Kyle oversaw the middle school through high school band program and the high school choir program.  He was also the director of the marching band, pep band, and spring musical where he had record participation and success. 
Kyle is extremely happy and proud to be a part of Carlisle Schools, where his responsibilities include directing the junior high choirs, assisting the marching band, and directing the winter percussion ensemble.

Kyle is a graduate of Fairfield High School, a former member of The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps. where he played baritone for three years, and aged out as a Horn Sergeant.  Kyle is getting married in April 2019 to his fiancé Emily.

CALVIN FACKRELL
Visual Director/Visual Design
From Vancouver, WA, Calvin has been teaching and designing in the marching arts for the past 12 years with groups spread across the country. Calvin is currently the Visual Co-Caption Head for the Lakota East H.S. Marching Band, the Visual Director of Cap City Percussion, and an in demand drill designer throughout the country.

​Upon relocating to the Ohio in 2014, Calvin has worked with a handful or marching bands, indoor percussion ensembles, and winterguards throughout the Tri-State area. Mr. Fackrell was the Visual and Brass Caption Head for the Colerain Marching Band from 2014-2016, helping them reach their highest placement at Mid-States finals in school history (2016). For the last two seasons as a part of the Lakota East visual team, he helped them earn two bronze medals at the BOA Dayton and Bowling Green regionals, two finals placements at the Indianapolis Super Regionals, and their first ever Semi-Finals placement at Grand Nationals in 2018. He also held the position of Visual Director for Cap City Percussion since the 2015 season, including some aspect of visual design in every season since. In that time, Cap City was fortunate enough to perform twice in Percussion Independent World Finals (2017, 2018).
​Calvin is also in demand nationally as a drill designer, working with competitive bands from all over the country, including New Hampshire, Ohio, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Utah. In the capacity of visual design for Cincinnati Tradition, he helped them achieve a DCA Class A Championship in 2017, and also designed in 2018, ushering in their first ever Open Class season in 8th place at DCA Championships. In 2018-2019 he will be writing for over a dozen schools and independent groups in BOA, WGI, DCA, and local circuits around the country.

As a performer, Calvin got his start with the Evergreen High School Marching Band and later marched with the Oregon Crusaders (2006), and the Seattle Cascades Drum & Bugle Corps (2007). He then earned a spot with the Concord Blue Devils (2008-2010), while they captured their 13th and 14th DCI World Championships.

Calvin currently resides in Miamisburg, OH and looks forward to a second season with the Carlisle High School Marching Band.

LAMAR CASEY
Percussion Director
From Cincinnati, Ohio, Lamar Casey has been educating students in the marching arts for over half a decade. He started his marching career at ConneXus Independent in 2014 on snare drum, where he would then go and march another 2 seasons with. After that, he would then go on to march 2 seasons with Matrix Performing Arts. The instruction he has received at both of these ensembles is some of the best in the world, and he makes sure that he utilizes this information to better himself and his students. Lamar has spent time educating students at Northmont High School, Reading High School, West Clermont High School, and Carlisle High School, where he is currently the percussion director. Lamar has also worked with Triple Crown Indoor and has been invited back to educate again this season. On top of educating students in the marching arts, he also is pursuing a degree in communications from the University of Cincinnati. Lamar is very excited for his 4th year with the Carlisle marching band!
